Bump Caps

A bump cap is lightweight head protection for the knocks a hard hat is not built for. Worn where the risk is striking your head on something fixed, a low beam, an open cabinet door, a vehicle frame, it puts a rigid shell inside the shape of a baseball cap so the protection feels like everyday headwear. This range covers vented and non-vented bump caps certified to EN 812, a choice of peak lengths, and lightweight branded work caps for jobs that need identification rather than impact protection.

Certified to EN 812

The bump caps here are tested to EN 812, the standard for protecting the head against knocks into hard, stationary objects. That is a different job from an EN 397 safety helmet, which guards against falling objects, so a bump cap suits low-clearance and indoor risks rather than overhead ones.

Vented for warm work

AirTech and Vent Cool styles move air through the shell for warehouses, kitchens and summer shifts, while the classic shell holds warmth in cooler settings. 10 styles are available across the range.

Peak lengths for the task

Standard, long and short peak options change how much shade and forward cover you get, and a micro peak keeps upward sight lines open for drivers and forklift work. Pick the peak by the view the job needs.

About bump caps and EN 812

A bump cap protects against one specific hazard: striking your head against something that is not moving. Ductwork, scaffold tube, an open engine bay, a low doorway in an older building. EN 812 sets out how the cap is tested for that impact and, on some styles, for penetration. It is deliberately a lighter standard than EN 397, which covers industrial safety helmets built to take a blow from above. If there is any risk of falling or swinging objects the job needs a helmet, not a bump cap, so match the cap to a low-clearance or indoor risk and reach for a hard hat where things can fall.

Choose the shell by the environment. Vented AirTech and Vent Cool styles let heat escape for warehouse picking, food production and warm-weather work, while the standard shell keeps warmth in for cooler settings. Peak length is the other choice: a standard peak shades the eyes, a long peak adds forward cover, and a short or micro peak keeps upward sight lines clear for drivers and forklift operators. Alongside the certified caps the range includes lightweight branded work caps and hi-vis baseball caps; these are comfortable headwear for identification and sun cover and are not impact rated, so treat them as uniform rather than protection.

Bump caps sit alongside the rest of the head protection range, from EN 397 safety helmets to visors and winter liners for colder shifts. Browse the full catalogue on the products page, or read how EN 812 and the other head protection standards compare in our safety standards guide.
