FFP3 Masks & Disposable Respirators

EN 149 is the European standard for filtering half masks that protect against particles. It sets three classes by filtration efficiency: FFP1 captures at least 80 percent of airborne particles and suits low level nuisance dust, FFP2 captures at least 94 percent for plaster, wood and general construction dust, and FFP3 captures at least 99 percent and is the class to choose for fine and hazardous particles such as silica, hardwood dust and biological aerosols. Masks marked R are reusable across more than one shift, while NR masks are for single shift use. A Dolomite or D mark shows the mask has passed the clogging test and holds its breathing resistance in heavy dust.

Choose a valved mask where comfort and heat build up matter over a long shift, a fold flat style where masks need to be carried and kept clean, and match the FFP class to the task rather than always reaching for the highest. Fit matters as much as class, so a mask must seal against the face to deliver its rated protection.
