Safety Spectacles

EN 166 is the core European standard for personal eye protection. It grades the optical quality of the lens and its resistance to impact: a lens marked F withstands a 6mm steel ball at 45 metres per second, which covers most grinding, cutting and machining tasks. Related standards add filter performance, with EN 170 covering ultraviolet filters and EN 172 covering sun glare filters for outdoor work. The marking on the lens and frame tells you exactly what each pair is certified for.

Choose clear lenses for general indoor work, smoke or mirror tints where sun glare is the hazard, and amber where you need extra contrast in dull conditions.
